Mississippi Assessment Program
The Mississippi Assessment Program (MAP) is designed to measure student achievement on the Mississippi College-and Career-Readiness Standards (MS CCRS) for English Language Arts and Mathematics and to provide valid and reliable results to guide instruction through data driven instruction. The MAP will assess students in grades 3-8 in English Language Arts and Mathematics, Algebra I, and English II. Mississippi Literacy-Based Promotion Act
Passed during the 2013 legislative session, the Literacy-Based Promotion Act places an emphasis on grade-level reading skills, particularly as students’ progress through grades K-3. Beginning in the 2014-2015 school year, a student scoring at the lowest achievement level in reading on the established state-wide assessment for 3rd grade will not be promoted to 4th grade unless the student qualifies for a good cause exemption.
The Children First Report Cards
The Children First Act of 2009 calls for school districts to publish its Children First Report Card. The reports contain comprehensive information about each district in the state.
