Principal's Office |
![]() Dear Parents: Can you believe it? We have made it through one year at the new middle school and another is about to begin. We welcome you to visit the school to experience our learning environment. Familiar faces have been added to the Laurel Middle School leadership family. We welcome Mrs. Gertrude Reed and Mr. Davis Lewis as assistant principals. We also welcome all newly hired teachers. Our summer enrichment program was informative and productive. Students were willing to give up part of their summer to take part in the enrichment program. They investigated the oil spill’s affect on plants, animals, and the economy. Students produced a three page research paper along with a science project. Character education and physical fitness was also part of the program. On the final day of the program parents viewed the students’ finished products. The character education class video of solving conflict and bullying through drama was shown. We are looking forward to all our students returning and to focus on being “Life Long Learners”. Not only were our students engaged in the educational process this summer; so were our teachers. Professional development provided was in the areas of technology, language arts, reading, mathematics, cooperative learning and integration of the arts. Parents, we want you to be involved in the learning process by asking students about their learning experience daily. We want our students to be happy and excited about learning. “Minds-on” activities and integration of the arts will be evident in student learning. Parents we solicit your support and we look forward to the 2010-2011 school year. Laurel Middle School is a Model Whole School of the Arts. Sincerely, Jeannine Agee, Ed.S. Principal
