Dr. Glenn McGee, Laurel School District Superintendent held a special breakfast for all of the students in the district who were named Superintendent’ Scholars for the first nine weeks of the school year. The breakfast was held in the Gardiner Administrative Office Cafeteria at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, October 27th. To be named a Superintendent’s Scholar, the student must have A’s in all of their subjects and all A’s in citizenship. Approximately 130 students from all six schools feasted on pepperoni pizza for breakfast, and ice cream sandwiches for dessert. The cafeteria was brightly decorated with colorful Halloween piñatas which were given away as door prizes. Students were also given a special gift inscribed with the Laurel Tornado’s logo, and plenty of candy and surprises.
The highlight of the breakfast was when Dr. McGee turned the microphone over to the students to entertain each other. The attendees had a great time singing songs, telling jokes, and just offering words of encouragement to each other.
