Laurel High School senior Jon Michael White spent his summer vacation preparing for the current golf season, and participating in several prestigious golf events.

White played on the Mississippi Junior Golf Association Tour where he participated in seven tournaments over the course of the summer. He finished 12th on the points list out of approximately 50 students from all across Mississippi.

White also received an invitation to play in the Viking Classic Pro/Am held in Madison, Mississippi.

“In the short time I have had to work with Jon Michael on the golf course, it has been a pleasure to watch this young man swing a golf club,” said Laurel High School Golf Coach Michael Kelly. “Jon Michael has an excellent understanding of the game of golf and where he wants his particular game to be.”

“He possesses a swing that most people only dream of, and not only is this swing sweet to watch, it is packed with plenty of power,” Kelly continued. “Jon Michael has an excellent future ahead of him, and I wish him nothing but the best in his golf career.”

An active student, White is a member of the Student Council, Beta Club, Tornado Baseball Team, Golf Team and plays percussion in the Tornado Marching Band. He recently performed at the famed Carnegie Hall in New York as a member of the LHS Select Choir. White is the son of Michael and Diane White. After graduation he plans to pursue a degree in business.
