To promote healthy living, the staff at Nora Davis Magnet School challenged each other to exercise and make wise food choices by hosting their own version of “Biggest Loser.” The 10-week promotion that boasted 33 participants gave those eager to loss a few pounds an extra incentive of $400. Special education teacher Marylynn Carter, who lost a total of 18 pounds, was awarded the prize.

Each participant chose a code name, weighed in and entered their information on a chart. Each Friday during the 10 weeks, those participants weighed in and entered their weight status. The sixth grade students even turned the staff incentive into a classroom project. Each week, the sixth grade students at Nora Davis Magnet School created charts that mapped out each participants weight loss.

Principal Kathy Stennett said that the staff plans to host another healthy living incentive in the near future.
