Elementary Speech and Debate students place in domestic extemporaneous

The Laurel School District’s Elementary Speech and Debate League recently completed the third tournament of the 2017-18 school year. The league focuses on developing the oral, written and critical thinking skills of fourth and fifth grade students. Teams from all four elementary schools provide students the opportunity for competition and skills development.

The overall team winner in domestic extemporaneous was Maddox Elementary School. Pictured (front L-R) are Isabelle Terry, Markaly Lofton, Tydarian Rogers, (back L-R) Speech and Debate Coach Katelyn Bryant, Zarea Easterling, Tayshun McCray, Russell Breland and Ashton Arrington.

The overall individual winners in domestic extemporaneous were (from left) first place Oak Park fifth grader D’Ad Pigford, second place Maddox fifth grader Isabelle Terry and third place Oak Park fifth grader Tristan Hutton.
