Laurel Middle School Art I and Advanced Art students create masks

The Art I students at Laurel Middle School recently completed a unit on creative masks and their significance in various cultures. The students picked a theme out of a jar filled with over 200 different ideas. The students were then tasked with interpreting their theme in the form of a creative mask. The winners were (from left) first place Zipporah Husband with lawyer, second place Kamari Phillips with Sesame Street and third place Ta’Kyra Daniels with money.

The Advanced Art students at Laurel Middle School recently completed a unit on creative masks and their significance in various cultures. The students were tasked with developing an idea and interpreting their idea in the form of a creative mask. The Advanced Art winners were (from left) first place Jermaine Ivory with golden moon spirit, second place Jakendal Ruffin with mother nature and third place Amiah White with jack in the box.
