LHS Student Council sponsor selected for state leadership role
Laurel High School Student Council Sponsor Tamia Taylor was recently elected to serve on the advisory board for the Mississippi State Association of Student Councils (MSASC). During this two-year term, she will assist the MSASC directors with local and state conventions as well as yearly business of the association.
Taylor received an accounting degree from Jackson State University and is currently pursuing a degree in guidance and counseling. In her eighth year of teaching, she serves as an algebra teacher at LHS and serves as the sponsor for Student Council and Fashion Club and co-sponsor of the LHS Cheer Squad.
“I believe that Student Council is so important to increase the morale of the school,” Taylor said. “It is important to have a student governing body to help administration with the everyday issues of the school. Student Council is a great opportunity to prepare our kids for college-level student government associations in addition to promoting character, and exposure.”
