LHS students bring awareness to National Suicide Prevention Day

The Laurel High School Student Council recently wore white to bring recognition to National Suicide Prevention Day, which is set aside each year to help raise awareness and prevention of teen suicide. The event was an initiative of LHS students Nadia McKenzie and Kimberlynn Mai who serve on the statewide panel Healthy Teens for a Better Mississippi. Mai and McKenzie serve alongside 42 student representatives on the Governor’s Teen Council. They are tasked with leading campaigns within the school and community to encourage positive behavior and healthy choices. September is National Suicide Prevention Month.
