Maddox Principal Tammy Griffith selected Laurel Administrator of the Year
For her outstanding leadership and dedicated service, Maddox Elementary School Principal Tammy Griffith was selected as the Laurel School District’s Administrator of the Year.
“Mrs. Griffith has been a longstanding administrator in the Laurel School District with proven leadership,” Superintendent Dr. Toy L. Watts said. “I’m grateful to have someone who has a big heart for children working in our district.”
Griffith, along with the work of dedicated teachers, received a B accountability rating at Nora Davis Magnet School on the 2017-18 state testing results, moving the school from a C. At the beginning of the current school year, Griffith was selected to take over the leadership role at Maddox Elementary to assist in moving the school to greater levels of success.
“We believe that with her leadership, Maddox will achieve the A rating the school has worked diligently to attain,” Watts said.
Griffith received a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a master’s degree in educational administration from the University of Southern Mississippi.
Due to her selection as the Laurel School District’s Administrator of the Year, Griffith’s nomination was forwarded to the Mississippi Department of Education Administrator of the Year Program for consideration on the state level.
“It is truly a blessing to receive an award for work that I have loved for 25 years,” Griffith said. “I am indeed thankful and honored.”
