Oak Park students enjoy Art Day in the Garden
Oak Park Elementary School students recently enjoyed Art Day at the Outdoor Classroom Garden. The annual event, hosted by Continental Societies, Inc. and Laurel School Board Member Doncella Milton, featured a variety of art and garden projects. The students had the opportunity to plant flower and vegetable seedlings and complete several arts projects. The students painted garden creatures such as bugs and butterflies on rocks to be used in the garden’s landscaping. The students also painted flower pots, made bird feeders and created a money flower from shredded currency brought back from the Federal Reserve in Colorado. The garden features a literacy component with a mini library on site where students can borrow books. Sponsors of the event included Continental Societies, Inc, Morgan Brothers, Lowes, City of Laurel Parks and Recreation, Sherwin Williams, City Home Center and numerous other volunteers.
