School board president receives state honor

Laurel School District Board of Trustees President Miranda Beard was recently awarded the 2017 Friend of Education award presented by the Mississippi Association of School Administrators. The award was given for Beard’s dedication to public education on the local, state and national levels. Beard served as the 2016-17 president of the National School Boards Association whose members are state associations that provide services to about 90,000 school board leaders and administrators across the country and she is past president of the Mississippi School Boards Association.
