Tornado Student Council honors impactful teachers with special ceremony

The Laurel High School Student Council recently hosted a unique celebration to honor teachers who made a lasting impact on the lives of students. Each senior member of the Student Council selected the one teacher from their kindergarten through high school years that had made the biggest impact. Each student then presented the selected teacher with a golden apple pin during a ceremony and dinner at the Laurel Train Depot.

Each student gave emotional testimony to the dedication and compassion shown by each Golden Apple Honoree. The heartfelt speeches included recollections of moments in time where a teacher spoke a word of kindness at a pivotal moment, helped a student through a tragic circumstance, pushed a struggling student to press forward, encouraged a student to pursue excellence in the midst of adversity, and many other stories of dedication and perseverance.
