Mason Elementary School Principal

Dr. Tirrase L. Bishop began her career in education as a Day Treatment Teacher in Bassfield, Mississippi.  Before coming to the Laurel School District in October of 2021, she served as a 4th-grade teacher and middle school teacher grades 6th-8th of general and special education students. She was also the lead teacher for 6th grade. She served as an Assistant Principal for 9 years in both the Hattiesburg Public School District and Gwinnett County Public Schools in Georgia. She is currently the principal at Mason Elementary School.

She received a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of Southern Mississippi, a Master’s degree in Mild/Moderate Disabilities from William Carey University, as well as a Specialist and Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Argosy University.

Mason Elementary School Assistant Principal

Dr. Heather Jones will join the Mason Elementary School Family as the Assistant Principal. Jones has 21 years of experience in education, having served as a teacher, interventionist, instructional specialist, and family and parent engagement coordinator.

Dr. Jones received a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from the University of Southern Mississippi, a master’s degree in elementary education, specialist’s degree in instructional leadership and a doctorate degree in educational leadership from William Carey University.
