Mason Elementary School Principal

Christie Beeker began her career in education as a seventh and eighth grade English teacher. Prior to coming to the Laurel School District in July 2018, she served as a seventh, eighth and ninth grade English teacher and administrative intern. She is currently the principal of Mason Elementary School.

She received a bachelor’s degree in secondary English and English language arts from the University of Alabama, master’s degree in reading specialist from Jackson State University and specialist degree in instructional leadership from the University of Mississippi.

Kristin Walters began her career in education as a composition I & II teacher at the University of Southern Mississippi. She joined the Laurel School District in August 2007 as an English II teacher.

She received a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Mississippi, Master of Arts in English from the University of Southern Mississippi and specialist degree in educational leadership from the University of Mississippi.

“I love working in education because I enjoy seeing the tangible difference and growth that can be made in a child’s life through encouragement and productive struggle. I have a heart for supporting teachers and making them feel valued in making that difference.”
