Laurel High School students now have an exciting opportunity to get a head start on their future by earning an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) Degree in a Career and Technical Education (CTE) field, or earning dual enrollment college credit, while still completing their high school diploma.
Through a partnership between Laurel School District and Jones College, students can enroll in college-level Career and Technical Education programs designed to prepare them for high-demand careers while saving both time and money on their college education.
One of the biggest advantages of the program is that students do not have to be enrolled in a Career and Technical Education (CTE) program at Laurel High School to participate. Any eligible Laurel High School student is encouraged to apply.
Students may choose from a variety of Career and Technical Education pathways, including:
- Automotive Technology
- Business Office Technology
- Computer-Aided Design (CAD)
- Civil Engineering Technology
- Early Childhood Education
- Electromechanical Technology
- Entrepreneurship
- Forestry
- Horticulture
- Information Systems Technology
- Welding
To be eligible, students must meet Jones College admission requirements. Most programs require an ACT Composite score of 16 or a WorkKeys Silver score. The Information Systems Technology program requires a minimum ACT Composite score of 18, and some programs may have additional admission requirements.
Students who qualify can earn an Associate of Applied Science Degree before graduating from Laurel High School or earn valuable dual enrollment credits that transfer toward a college degree.
