For his dedicated service, Laurel High School Principal Eric Boone was selected as the Laurel School District’s Administrator of the Year. Boone, formerly the principal at Oak Park Elementary School, along with the work of dedicated students, teachers, staff and parents, moved Oak Park from a D to a C on the 2021-2022 state test results, achieved the highest third grade literacy pass rate in the history of Oak Park, and established a culture of excellence. Due to his selection as the Laurel School District’s Administrator of the Year, Boone’s nomination will be forwarded to the Mississippi Department of Education Administrator of the Year Program for consideration on the state level.
