UPDATE: The device pick-up has been postponed due to the potential for inclement weather as Hurricane Zeta is forecasted to impact our area on Wednesday. New dates coming soon.

The Laurel School District is excited to announce that the student chromebooks were delivered on Wednesday.  It was an exciting day in the district as personnel unloaded box after box of much needed devices. The chromebooks are for students in first grade through 12th grade in the Laurel School District. We have ordered developmentally appropriate tablets for our kindergarten and pre-kindergarten students, and we hope to receive 443 ipads in the coming weeks, so kindergarten parents, stay tuned for an announcement. Additionally, we are awaiting delivery of 250 laptops for our teachers.

The device distribution for first grade through 12th grade students will be held Wednesday, October 28 from 1pm to 6 pm for our elementary schools and middle school, and 2pm – 7 pm for the high school. Each school will have a designated drive through location. The devices must be picked up by a parent/guardian and a photo ID will be required. There will be paperwork to sign, and we will make a copy of our technology handbook available under the families menu of the district website. We ask that parents do not exit the vehicle and please be patient with traffic flow. For the 2020-2021 school year, there will be no technology fee to receive a device.

Once the device is received, the device cover is not to be removed. Removal of the cover will void the warranty and cause incurred cost to the parent. We will be launching a help desk in the coming weeks where parents can call to receive any needed technology assistance related to the device. Elementary students will leave devices at home, and middle and high school students will be required to bring them back and forth between home and school.
