We are excited to share some fantastic news about two exceptional Laurel School District Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment Department members – Kristin Walters and Rebecca Hooper. Both educators have significantly contributed to a recent article highlighting their expertise and dedication to improving literacy skills.

In 2022, the Regional Educational Laboratory Program (REL) Southeast initiated a partnership with the Mississippi Department of Education and three school districts in the state, including Laurel. The primary focus of this collaboration has been to enhance the literacy skills and abilities of adolescents.

We are proud to announce that Kristin Walters and Rebecca Hooper, representing Laurel Public Schools, played pivotal roles in the research and development of multi-strategy lessons and text-based discussion facilitation. These contributions are showcased in the article, and we invite you to delve into the details by clicking on the following link: https://ies.ed.gov/.../Products/Region/southeast/Blog/107458
