Congratulations to Laurel High School senior standout Zechariah Jenkins (#7)! On Early National Football Signing Day 2025, Zechariah officially signed with the University of Memphis, where he will compete at the NCAA Division I level with the Memphis Tigers. He plans to major in Journalism as he pursues a future career in sports media.
Zechariah is the son of Candace Newell and Antron Jenkins. He was joined by family and friends, including his grandparents and great-grandparents, who provided tremendous support during this special moment.
A true scholar-athlete, Zechariah excels both on and off the field. He is a Dual Enrollment student at Jones College, a Superintendent Scholar, and will complete his high school diploma early this December.
During his remarkable football career as a Golden Tornado, Zechariah has achieved numerous honors, including:

2024 Region 3 Class 5A Top Receiver
2024 Region 3 Class 5A All Teams
2024 First Team All-State, Region 3 Class 5A
Selected to represent Team Mississippi in the 2025 Mississippi–Alabama All-Star Game
