The Laurel Education Center provides an alternative setting for grades 6th - 12th, including alternative school placement and exclusion services. The center works to provide a structured and supportive alternative educational environment to meet the needs of students by working in collaboration with Laurel High School and Laurel Middle School.
Dr. Jaymar T. Jackson Sr. began his career in education as a sixth grade teacher at Oak Park Elementary School in August 1996. During his 24 years in education, he has served as a teacher, coach, athletic director, assistant principal and principal. He is currently the Laurel Education Center principal.
He received an Associate of Arts from Jones County Junior College, Bachelor of Science in elementary education and master’s degree in educational leadership from the University of Southern Mississippi. He received a specialist degree in instructional leadership and doctorate degree in educational leadership from William Carey University.
