Dear Faculty, Staff, Students, and Families,

Welcome to the 2025-2026 school year! I am truly excited to begin this journey with each of you as we continue to build on our successes and strive for even greater achievements. This year, we are embracing the theme “Rooted to Rise: Growing with Purpose”—a powerful reminder that when we are firmly grounded in our values, our vision, and each other, we can rise to any challenge and grow in ways that positively impact our students, our school, and our community.

As we begin the year, we remain committed to four core goals that are essential to the success of every student:

1.  Improving Student Achievement – Through data-driven instruction, targeted support, and a relentless focus on learning, we will work to ensure that every student reaches their fullest academic potential.

2.  Creating a Positive Culture and Climate – We will foster an environment where students feel safe, valued, and respected, and where positive behavior and relationships are consistently nurtured.

3.  Improving Teacher Capacity – By investing in professional growth, collaboration, and innovation, we will equip our teachers with the tools they need to be effective, inspired, and impactful in every classroom.

4.  Increasing Parental Involvement – We recognize that families are essential partners in education. This year, we will strengthen communication, offer more opportunities for engagement, and work together to support student success at home and at school.

These priorities are not only central to our school’s mission—they align directly with the goals of the Laurel School District, which are focused on high academic performance, equity, community engagement, and building strong, supportive systems for every learner.

Let this year be one of purpose, passion, and progress. Together, rooted in our mission and vision, we will rise—growing stronger, reaching higher, and achieving more than ever before.

Welcome back, and let’s make it a great year!

With Tornado Pride,
Dr. Tirrase L. Bishop
