About our Library
It is the philosophy of the Laurel School District that the library media center should be a student centered environment that is accessible to individuals, small groups, and whole classes for research and enjoyment. The library media specialist will be available to plan cooperatively with faculty, to integrate information skills into all areas of curriculum, and to assist in the selection of appropriate materials to enhance instruction and promote reading.
Our library has a vast collection of fiction, non-fiction, and reference books. Many of the books that are available for check-out by the students are Accelerated Reader books, meaning that the students can read the books and take AR quizzes after they've completed the books. We also offer many selections in Spanish.

Circulation Policies: All students in the school are encouraged to use the library and to check out books. Reference books, such as encyclopedias and dictionaries are to be used in the library. Magazines and newspapers may not be taken from the library without special permission. If permission is granted, they may be checked out to carry to class for reports and returned at the end of the period. It is important that all library materials be returned when due. A book may be checked out for two weeks and rechecked as needed. No fine is charged, but students must pay the current price of books that are lost or damaged beyond reasonable wear. Students are allowed to check out two (2) books at a time. Any student who checks out a book is responsible for that book until it is again in the hands of the media specialist. Students cannot check out books or materials for other students.
