Exceptional Education Office Request for Proposals (RFP)

For 2024-2025 Student and Staff Services


The Laurel School District’s Exceptional Education Office is accepting proposals for the
2024-2025 school year for the following services: Occupational Therapy services; Physical
Therapy services; Psychological services; Autism services and Consultative services for
students with disabilities and special education staff. The purpose of this RFP is to provide
a fair evaluation for all candidates. The Laurel School District’s Exceptional Education Office
will negotiate contract terms upon selection. All contracts are subject to review and
applicable projects will be awarded upon the signing of an agreement or contract, which
outlines terms, scope, budget and other necessary items. Interested parties should email
proposals to Dr. Dorsetta Jordan, Exceptional Education Director at
djordan@laurelschools.org or mail proposals to P.O. Box 288- Laurel, MS 39441 to the
attention of Dr. Dorsetta Jordan. The deadline for submitting proposals will be June 11,

Exceptional Education Department Announces 2024-2025 IDEA Budget Hearing

The Laurel School District Exceptional Education Department will host the 2024-2025 IDEA
(Individuals with Disabilities Education Act) Public Budget Hearing for the purpose of reviewing
the draft FY25 IDEA budget on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, beginning at 4:00 pm at the Laurel
School District Central Office, located in the Gardiner Building Board Room- 303 West 8 th Street,

Mississippi Educational Scholarship

The Mississippi Educational Scholarship was enacted in 2015 and provides an opportunity for parents of children with disabilities to receive money to help defray the cost of private school tuition or other specific allowable expenses to educate their child. The ESA program was created by the Equal Opportunity for Students with Special Needs Miss. Code Ann. §§ 37-181-1 et. seq.
